Chimpanzee populations in Central- and West-Afrika are under increasing duress, not only due to deforestation. The adults are poached for bush meat, while the little ones are often sold on black-markets to serve as pets. And some populations are seen wiped out by the Ebola virus. It won't be long before this species, with whom we share 98% of our DNA, will be in danger of extinction.
